All of us have the capacity to decide many things. However, our conception of how things unfold in life conditions our way of being.
If we think that nothing depends on us, but that our life and our luck are subject to external events beyond our control, we will be much less active people than if we think that what happens basically depends on us and is in our hands.
I believe that in any situation, we can all do something or contribute our two cents to change it. There are probably situations beyond our control in which it seems completely out of our hands, and it probably is 99% of the time, but if we think about it carefully, there is surely at least a remaining 1% that depends on us or that we can contribute to.
This is what I would like my children to think in the future, that they can change things, and that dreams, however distant they may seem, can be achieved with effort and perseverance.
This attitude, as you know, is associated with the entrepreneurial spirit. In one of the entrepreneurship talks I recently attended, something was said that I found very true: "if you diligently pursue your dreams, the cosmos and the stars will align with you to help you achieve them...". And it is true that if we fight decisively for something, things start to flow. It may seem to us that a lot of coincidences begin to arise... but in reality, they are not coincidences but causalities provoked by ourselves.
You just have to dare and act. The fear of failure is much worse than failure itself. From the latter, at least we learn things that will serve us in the future, but fear blocks us, paralyzes us, and prevents us from moving forward.
We have the ability to influence our children so that they have one or another vision of life. I invite you to reflect on the topic and to educate them to be proactive and persistent individuals, and remember that the best way to transmit this is not with words but with daily example.
I will conclude with a quote from Paramahansa Yogananda, an Indian guru and pioneer of meditation teachings in the West:
"Man sows a thought and reaps an action.
Sows an action and reaps a habit
Sows a habit and reaps a character
Sows a character and reaps a destiny"
