When you watch the news and read the newspapers, you can't help but wonder why? How can human beings be so inhumane and cruel? How does such hatred develop? How much resentment must someone accumulate to behave in such a way?
I only see one solution to change things: education. And it is that in the face of helplessness, we must think that change, as so often, begins in each family.
Let's educate our children in respect and the value of difference.
Let's teach them to see the good in others, no matter how different they may be, because surely they can teach us things that will enrich us.
Let's insist that we don't all have to think or feel the same, have the same skin color, or speak the same language... diversity is richness.
Let's care not only that our children do not suffer bullying, but also that they are not the ones who make others suffer it.
Let's educate them to help their neighbor, to cooperate more and compete less, to be supportive and committed.
Let's teach them to be empathetic so they don't look away when someone is suffering.
We cannot change the world, but we can change our small plot, and if we all do it, that plot will be SO BIG that the world will finally begin to be a more habitable place.
