Today I bring you a video that invites reflection based on the following question: What would happen if we talked to other adults the same way we talk to our children?
Watching it made me think about how ridiculous we parents sometimes look from the outside. Yes, it's obvious that talking to a friend is not the same as having to raise a child; I imagine we all agree on that, but... is it really necessary to speak to them in such an arrogant or haughty tone? Wouldn't we seem very rude and disrespectful if we spoke that way to another adult? Why do we do it then with our children, whom we love the most?
Perhaps sometimes, unconsciously, we tend to reproduce phrases, tones, or behaviors that our elders used with us when we were little, without questioning them for a second...
However, I think it's worth reviewing them and reflecting on how we can EDUCATE without falling into those same errors... and the truth is that firmness is not achieved by being more "blunt" or more cutting; quite the opposite, it is achieved through argumentation and a calm explanation of things. If children understand why we do things in a certain way, it will be much easier for them to reproduce the behavior we are trying to instill in them... without ever forgetting the most important thing: our EXAMPLE!
That's why I'm sharing this video, because it's worth reflecting on, and perhaps it will make us, at least for one day (hopefully many more!), make the effort to speak to them as they deserve ;)
What do you think?
